I researched and ghost wrote this formal submission in response to the Senate enquiry on the topic of Accessibility and quality of mental health services in rural and remote Australia.
The submission was written on behalf of On the Line, a provider of well-known phone and web-based mental health (i.e. telehealth) counselling services like MensLine Australia, SuicideLine Victoria and Suicide Call Back Service. I was the organisation’s Content Manager at the time.
I don’t mind admitting that this was a challenging piece. I was relatively new to the mental health sector at the time and the deadline was tight. Nonetheless, it was a rewarding exercise. Through researching this piece I learnt a great deal about the state of mental health care and the (often downright harsh) challenges faced by regional and remote Australians. I’m genuinely delighted that I was able to contribute in some way.
This submission can be viewed on the Parliament of Australia website (scroll down to submission #58) or on the On the Line website.
